Steam Whistle Brewery's New Ride

Steam Whistle Brewing is fast becoming known for their fabulous vintage fleet of delivery and promotional vehicles. They are also known for having a fantastically green ethos when it comes to their product, and are translating that desire to be green into their fleet.  The latest addition to their stable is this very green 1958 Chevy Apache. The truck was originally motivated by the omnipresent General Motors small-block V8, but for a company with an eco-friendly mindset, that wasn't going to cut it for long.

The guys at Steam Whistle teamed up with some Van City mechanics and restorers to replace the truck's fossil fuel-chugging guts with a brushless AC motor turning out an incredible 465 lb.-ft. of torque. That kind of motivation means this thing can deliver bed loads of brew to destinations all around Vancouver. The best part is Steam Whistle's high-voltage Apache is nearly 100-percent carbon neutral, thanks to wind-generated charging.

Oh yah...Steam Whistle also makes a really great Pilsner. Seriously, one of the best we've ever tried.  Available at finer beer shoppes and BC Liquor Stores near you.  Pics of the entire fleet after the jump.
