Death In The City of Lights - David King

A little macabre, this we know, but truth, no matter how gruesome, is always more interesting and intriguing than fiction. Talk about your perfect cover for a serial killer, that being Nazi occupied Paris, as who would be reporting missing people who were essentially at the mercy of the Nazis. The above is a story about a twisted doctor who preyed on people attempting to flee occupied Europe. He claimed to be a member of the resistance who was able to help, but instead of providing these people with fake papers and safe passage, he killed and dismembered them. He was getting away with it until his building caught fire and the local fire brigade discovered all the body parts. He was convicted of killing 27 people, but suspected in the death of more than 150, making him the most prolific serial killer in history. Dark to be sure...but compelling none the less.
