After Matisse

We had the good fortune lately of having come across the beautiful rug designs of Sonya Winner which as you can see, caught our attention immediately. Hand tufted or hand knotted, these rugs are a lesson in colour blocking, layering and graphic expression. Our favourite is the After Matisse rug which expands beyond the usual rectangular or square confines of typical rug dimensions. Like overlapping pieces of tissue paper, this rug is vibrant and complicated. Using New Zealand and Tibetan wools with environmentally free Swiss dyes, Winner ensures that her suppliers are members of Goodweave. You can find her collections here.
