Red Bull Stratos - Felix Baumgartner

It's been touch and go for the last few days due to weather concerns(too much wind), but today Felix Baumgartner and his support team with Red Bull Stratos did it. They broke the world record for highest manned ballon flight at nearly 4 km above the earths surface, highest altitude skydive, and longest free fall, Felix's being a whopping 4 minutes and 20 seconds. The ultimate goal was to break the sound barrier, which is 1110 kilometers per hour. Even after landing, Red Bull kept it a secret, only publishing his average free fall speed which was short of the speed of sound. We are happy to report that Felix broke that record too, reaching speeds as high as 1342.8 km per hour, or 834.5 miles per hour, or even more impressive...Mach 1.24. You can see more here.
