Pigeon English

We read many books last year, some forgettable, some memorable and others we can't seem to shake no matter how much time passes. Pigeon English by author Stephen Kelman tells the story of a little boy newly arrived from Ghana to a London housing estate. Told from the boy's point of view, the story of his life now, the complexities and danger that surround him and the underlying innocence of how he lives is funny and heartbreaking. We highly recommend it and plus this book was also shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize if that helps convince you to pick it up.
